We welcome you to the
inaugural Aortic Asia Symposium in Bali. It is a multi specialty
platform for specialists in Asia treating patients with aortic disease.
The theme for the meeting is critical issues in aortic intervention.
Advances in endovascular aortic stenting now allow minimally
invasivptions from the aortic valve to the iliac bifurcation. The
endovascular devices continue to improve to become disease specic and
addressanatomical challenges. Open aortic techniques continue to evolve
and some have adopted a hybrid approach.
Patients are now presenting at an older age with acute and often complex
aortic disease. Most centres are now adopting a multispecialty approach
to treating aortic disease. With newer devices and evolving techniques
we feel it is timely for an Asian Aortic focus group to meet and share
collective data and experiences on how best to treat our patients. Key
areas of interest for discussion would be training in endovascular
aortic intervention, approaches to aortic dissection, complex aneurysms,
mycotic aneurysms, management of endoleaks, large hole vessel closure
and setting up an Asian Aortic Registry. The format of the meeting will
include plenary lectures, rapid re presentations, case discussions,
moderated panel discussion and small group workshops on practical tips
and problem solving. We hope that new collaborations and continued
innovation will improve the outcomes for our patients with aortic
disease.
Mitral Valve Surgery trough a mini thoracotomy has become a routine
procedure in recent years and has evolved as the surgical approach of
choice in many centers.
B. Braun Aesculap and St. Jude Medical have decided to offer an Advance
Valve Training Course. Together with an International Faculty we offer a
practical, hands-on course including a Wet-Lab Training and a Live Case
Transmission from Stuttgart/Germany.
Aim of the course is to focus on the various technical aspects of
minimally invasive mitral valve repair and replacement. At the end of
this two days course, the attendees should have the armamentarium to
establish a minimally invasive valve repair/replacement program.
The scientific committee proudly announces that our pre-congress program
is
off to a flying start. With AATS Mitral Conclave and Asian Aortic Symposium
joining, this year's event it is boasted to be a one of a kind.
Currently, there are more or less seven to eight pre-congress related
events running simultaneously at the 7th of March 2012!
The main congress itself is continuously being designed around the clock. Despite finding a perfect combination between; insightful talks from renowned world-class giants, presenting current challenges in Asia and cutting edge updates latest sciences in this highly specialized field of medicine proves to be an exciting challenge on its own, the scientific program is already near completion.
With this upbeat updates on the condensed scientific program next year's meeting will surely be a main event to be remembered for years to come.
